Job Brief

Remotee, through our sister company Recruit Sync, is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to support the Finance team of an established Western Australian gold mining operation. Reporting to the Management Accountant Superintendent, this role provides timely and accurate accounting support across the business's operating sites, while assisting the Finance Manager and wider Finance team on special projects as needed.

You'll play a hands-on role across month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, budgeting and forecasting support, inventory and exploration asset accounting, and audit coordination — helping ensure financial records stay accurate, compliant and genuinely useful to department heads and the broader business.


Mandatory Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, or equivalent.
•CPA (Philippines) or another recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA) preferred.

• Must have at least 3+ years' experience in financial systems and budget management, financial reporting, financial data analysis, auditing or the provision of financial advice; mining industry experience highlyregarded.

• Must have at least 3+ years’ experience in Australian accounting.

• Practical, hands-on experience with MS Excel and large ERP systems such as SAP.

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly across month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting cycles.

Comfortable and confident liaising with department heads, internal and external stakeholders, and auditors.


Responsibilities

• Ensure financial controls are maintained in line with company policies and procedures.

• Assist the Finance team with preparation of month-end accounts and management reports.• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes, resolving accounting discrepancies and irregularities.

• Complete monthly diesel reconciliations and related fuel tax credit (FTC) journals.

• Complete month-end processes for supporting/functional departments, including accruals.

• Prepare and complete monthly prepayment-related work.

• Prepare and complete inventory-related accounting work, including ageing provisions, on a bi-yearly basis.

• Prepare and complete evaluation and exploration asset accounting work on a monthly and ad hoc basis, including supporting relevant regulatory reporting requirements.

• Facilitate cost review meetings with department leads, identifying key variances to budget and recommending improvements.

• Assist with the forecasting and budgeting process for supporting and general site departments.

• Liaise with internal and external auditors, including participation in half-year and full-year audit reviews.

• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and the integrity of financial data.

• Provide additional support to the Finance Manager and Finance team on special projects as needed.

• Support other ad hoc finance tasks as required.
